A CU in the workplace is not an academic qualification

A CORPORATE UNIVERSITY SCORECARD FOR YOUR COMPANY

A curriculum vitae (CV or resume) contains information that employers will refer to when considering employing a candidate.  Qualifications will inevitably be checked and references contacted.  However the most significant aspect of the CV is the work experience of that individual. References are often chosen because they will favour the candidate which might not be the best indication of whether that person has the necessary experience.  A certificate from that CORPORATE UNIVSERSITY is provable confirmation that that person has the necessary skills and experience.

A CORPORATE UNIVERSITY is designed to provide documentary evidence that that individual can do the job and can do the job well. As we have written before, every company has a CORPORATE UNIVERSITY they just don’t make the most of it.   Our Corporate University is different to other corporates (like Standard Bank) that have academic institutions attached to them.  This is a classroom environment that takes people out of the workplace and provides the necessary tuition for those individuals.

Whilst necessary, this type of training is somewhat elitist because it’s typically reserved for highly skilled people.  On top of this also expects that the people who undergo that training will be able to take those skills and use them in the workplace.

It’s the workplace where skills are learned, honed and shared.  External training plays a role but the practical application is the thing that has the biggest impact on a person’s CV.

The RISE CORPORATE UNIVERSITY formalises the informal process of training in three ways.

  1. Peers and associates are encouraged to teach other their respective skills.  EVERYONE IS AN EXPERT AT SOMETHING, no matter how small.  This knowledge can and must be shared within the organisation.
  2. Training is formally managed through the BOARDCLOUD system.   BOARDCLOUD captures the training sessions, keeps records of attendance, stores chats and documents.  All of which are necessary to manage an INTRATERNSHIP process
  3. The training is formalised through INTRATERNSHIPS, in internal internship programme.

The INTRATERNSHIP programme lasts between 6 and 12 months and recognises each persons attendance with a certificate issued by both RISE and THE CORPORATE.

It’s this certificate that shows that the person has the necessary experience.

It goes beyond the individual.  The company can show its many stakeholders that not only does it take internal training seriously it also creates its own INTRATERNSHIP scorecard.  A scorecard that ensures those stakeholders that the company can manage any change it faces.

We’ll continue talking about CORPORATE UNIVERSITIES and how easy and complicated it is to implement them.  If you can’t wait until then, contact us to find out more.
